Winter Elegance

Saturday
Loud and Proud

Embrace the allure of winter and its dark cozy colours with a touch of seasonal sparkle. Go for any daring show-stopping winter look. No ties, no tuxedos - just you, embracing winter!

Come as your most fabulous self, you know we love a little drama. An informal dance doesn't mean you can't look sophisticated. We trust you on this! The night will end in a rave, so comfort is key!

DRESSCODE

Collage.jpg

We first met on Friday, August 21, 2015, during a sweaty volleyball training session. A year later, Sjoerd had already moved in with Tom in his Amsterdam apartment. Soon after, we found our beautiful home in our beloved city.

The following years, our relationship blossomed around shared values, but also our love for travel, food and good conversations… and, more recently, raves. Marriage was never really on the cards. But then 2025 came, a pivotal year for both of us, personally, professionally and as a couple. So, on Sunday, November 23, Sjoerd proposed to Tom in tracksuits, in front of our fireplace at home.

LOVE is LOVE stands for the unconditional connection we feel for each other and the solid foundation that makes both of us so happy. We always have each other’s backs, and we cannot picture a world without each other.

LOVE is LOUD stands for showing the world that our love is as beautiful as any other. A love that should be celebrated loudly, always and everywhere! We feel deeply blessed to be able to get married as two men, especially in times like these.

TRAVELLING TO OUR WEDDING

Thank you for making the journey to celebrate our wedding with us. Below, you'll find more information on how to get here and how to get around in Amsterdam.

ARRIVING BY AIR

The nearest airport is Schiphol International Airport (AMS) Taxis and rideshares are available outside the main arrivals hall. It's a 15-20 minute drive to Amsterdam City Center. You can also take the train to either Amsterdam Centraal or Amsterdam-Zuid and continue your journey by tram or metro to your hotel. Let Google maps be your guide.

ARRIVING BY CAR

For people travelling to Amsterdam by car, we recommend that you park at one of the many P&R locations outside the city centre. Public transport tickets from there (and back) are included in the parking fee. There are very limited parking spaces close to the venues so we would not recommend that option. We discourage driving around in Amsterdam: use a taxi service or just bike around like the Dutchies.

ARRIVING BY BIKE

The easiest way to move around in Amsterdam is by bike. We realise it's winter and weather can be tricky but if you bring that fabulous warm coat and lovely scarf, you'll be happy to cycle around in a winter wonderland. Bike rental services can be found all over Amsterdam. Contact your hotel or Airbnb host for more information and again, let Google maps be your guide.

LOCATIONS AND PROGRAMME

We chose Dapper Cafe because it is a cute queer-owned café in Amsterdam Oost. Dapper is all about being a place where everyone can be themselves, meet people from all walks of life and feel at home. The first time we walked in, we immediately felt like this was a place where love really is LOVE.

Our Friday at Cafe Dapper

18:00

Cocktails are served for a snug winter aperitivo - it's a small venue so we'll have to cuddle up.

19:00

Find your seat and dinner is served

19:00 - 23:00

In between courses there will be some speeches, laughter and music, but above all, our vows.

23:00 - 01:00

After dinner we can mingle,  giggle, relax and get to know each other. But save some energy for the next day!

We chose Borisov because it’s an unknown, off-the-grid inclusive venue that's made to adapt, transform and inspire. Just like us ◡̈

They host all kinds of things, from private celebrations to in-house music nights and ADE raves, so there’s definitely no question about the sound system. To make our Dance extra LOUD and PROUD.

Our Saturday at Borisov

19:00 - 21:00

Champagne for everyone with some small bites and nibbles (no full dinner) and a cutesy ceremony of memories and love. And....there is room for some contributions. If you want to share something with us and our guests, please send an email to the address stated in the More Information & Questions section at the bottom.

21:00 - 00:00

Our first DJ will start spinning her discs. Don't expect sloppy balads - funky and upbeat vibes only!

00:00 - 03:00

Our next DJ takes over with progressive house, techno and some cheeky pop edits.  Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea in daily life, but we expect you to be eclectic tonight.

The Social Hub – Amsterdam City is a vibrant, centrally located modern hotel with different types of rooms and plenty of shared spaces serving great food and drinks. It’s also known for its inclusive and LGBTQIA+ friendly atmosphere.

They’ve kindly offered 25% off for all our guests when you use the discount code SJOERDTOM when booking directly through their website.

The Social Hub is around 18 minutes by car/taxi or 20 minutes by bike from Bar Borisov. Café Dapper is just a 6-minute drive or cycle from the hotel.

Of course, you’re completely free to stay wherever you like.

Amsterdam has plenty of hotels to suit all budgets!

GIFTS & WISHES

Your presence at our wedding weekend means more to us than anything!
Staying until the end of the dance will be the ultimate gift.

We know that some of you want to give us something. Of course we love that, but please don't bring any physical gifts to our wedding weekend, as we simply don't have the space for them.

We are saving up for a special artwork to remember our wedding weekend. If you want to contribute to that, there will be a box at the venues for envelopes and cards. For specific questions, please send an email to the address stated in the More Information & Question section below.

We would also like to encourage you to donate whatever you can to these good causes that help queer people celebrate their love LOUDLY.

Not everyone is privileged enough to do so.
